Reiche Odyssey 1st Place at ME Regional

Odyssey of the Mind is an after school program that emphasizes team work and creative problem-solving.

After a lot of practice and problem-solving, Faux Hawk Patrol qualified to compete at the Odyssey of the Mind WORLD FINALS!  The team took 1st place in Maine's Regional Competition and 2nd place in the State Competition.

Congratulations to Reiche students Eliza Cadwallader-Stein, Seamus Devon, Oliver Hettenbach, Ruben Hunter, and Charles Shafto.

Our team of 3rd and 4th graders is SO EXCITED to attend and experience the Worlds at Michigan State University from May 20th - 23rd. They will be solving “the technical difficulties” problem. They have written their script, made their costumes, and built, and rebuilt, their elastic band-powered devices that will perform different tasks. They have practiced, practiced, practiced. These Reiche kids are ready to go! What is not to love about the colorful “Faux” Hawk Patrol and the Mysterious Engineer, Mr. E, as they are ready to “save the world!”

They just have to find a way to get there. The expenses involved in attending the World Finals are considerable. After accounting for flight expenses, room and board, van transportation to and from the airport, non-included meals and other incidentals, the entire expense of the trip is expected to run roughly $7,500.00.

The team is trying to find ways to raise money and have already used their creativity to begin raising funds. Last Friday, the kids raised over $200 by setting up a fundraising table at Portland's First Friday event.  The team has also set up a Go Fund Me account where anyone can donate any amount.

Donations can be made by check or online through Go Fund Me
