Bullying- Reiche's Bullying Protocol

Reporting

Anyone can reach out with a concern of bullying. Students can inform their teachers or school staff. Parents can contact a Lead Teacher with concerns. A staff member witnessing suspected bullying must report it to a Lead Teacher.

Response

The law says that the adminstrators (Lead Teachers) of the school must take immediate steps to investigate and stop any bullying.

To qualify as bullying, the act has (or likely would have) the effect of:

  • Physically harming a student or damaging a student’s property; or
  • Places a student in reasonable fear of physical harm or damage to property

OR: Interferes with the rights of a student by:

  • Creating an intimidating or hostile educational environment for the student; or
  • Interfering with the student’s academic performance or ability to participate in or benefit from the service, activities or privileges provided by a school

OR: Is based on sex, race, national origin, sexual orientation or disability

Lead Teachers will conduct the investigation by speaking with everyone involved, responding with discipline, and informing authorities and guardians.
Every attempt to solve the problem will be made. All students have the right to attend public schools that are safe, secure and peaceful environments.

If a parent disagrees with the resolution response from the adminstrator, they can reach out to the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools to appeal.

If you think your child may be experiencing bullying, please reach out to a Lead Teacher immediately.
