Childrens' Author Michael Shoulders Visits Reiche!

On April 28th, Michael Shoulders visited Reiche. He met with all levels and thoroughly entertained the students while teaching them the process of writing a book and getting it published. He did magic tricks and made the kids laugh. He was SOOOO much fun to listen to. Please visit his website, it's GREAT! www.michaelshoulders.com

Take a look at some pics taken during the visit!

The kids loved the magic trick!

One of his counting books. That's him in the orange shirt! Do you see Elvis?

Some of Michael's books

He spent a lot of time sitting at a table writing. Lots of time at Starbucks!

This is what a book looks like right before it goes to the printer. It's his last chance to check it over
Kayla holds it for him

He talks about how he doesn't pick the illustrator for his books. His publisher does that

This is the real woman the illustrator used for the previous picture

He wrote a book about houses. He took the pictures himself. He went inside this house.
It's a dome house.

Now he explains the process of getting a book published. Austin, standing beside him is his rough draft

The next 5 kids were revisions. Then the next 3 students represent 19 rejections
Then finally, Amina liked his book and said she would publish it on the 20th try!
The final student is the final copy!!

This is a website he shared with the teachers. Check it out!

He said if you draw a picture of him to send him, DON'T draw him like this!! Hahaha

Then he did the Volunteer Rap from his V is for Volunteer book. It was great!!

Mr. Shoulders, YOU ROCK!!
