Project
RESPECT is a mentoring program that brings together twenty
Waynflete students and twenty Reiche students. Each mentor meets
with his or her Reiche student once a week during school. The
entire group then meets one afternoon a week after school for
a planned activity. The program's mission is to build on the strengths
and to foster the resiliency of each student through a variety
of activities intended to foster the mentoring relationships.

Dawgs
and Pups program is a student driven joint program of Greater
Portland Big Brothers Big Sisters, Portland High School and Reiche
Elementary School. It has been in existence since 1997 and involves
selected students in grades 3, 4, and 5. Matched students meet
from 3:00 to 5:00 every Wed. that school is in session in supervised
individual and group activities. The name
of the program is based on the Portland High Mascot, the bulldog.
The mission of Dawgs and Pups is to focus on Reiche students'
esteem building by providing them with guidance and leadership
through committed relationships with Portland High School students.
The primary focus of the program is the mentoring relationship
that develops between the "Bigs" and their "Littles."
