A Message from Mrs. Robbins and Mrs. Hopkins
We are looking forward to having a great year in First Grade. We will immerse our students in a wide variety of literature. They will read, write, discuss, and share ideas and experiences with text. Our focus this year will be story retelling and making connections with literature.
Math will be approached through hands-on cooperative activities to make connections between concrete and the abstract.  Our focus will be:  number sense, geometry, story problems, and measurement.
Science and Social Studies will be integrated throughout the curriculum.  Some science themes for the year will be Life Cycles (butterflies, frogs, chickens), Trees and Plants. We will begin the year with a social studies focus of Building Communities and Celebrations.
